Hispanic women retire because they have to, not want to
In a new study, Nationwide Financial revealed that two-thirds of retired Hispanic women say they were driven to retire because of factors beyond their control. Sixty-three percent of Hispanic women polled pointed to illness, disability and company closure, among other outside factors, as the reason for their retirement. The study claims this information reinforces the fact that many need to start planning ahead and prepare for retirement, whether expected or not. The study also found that half of Hispanics between 55 and 59 years of age have no retirement savings and that Hispanic women make a large portion of financial decisions or participate equally with their male counterparts in financial decisions.
